The Body – “To Know And To Hide”
On their most recent full-length, No One Deserves Happiness, the Body paired haunting industrial noise with melting pop-influenced beats, a mixture they continue on their new Adult Swim Singles series track “To Know And To Hide,” five minutes worth of intense, intimidating mood-setting. Here’s how the duo framed the track to Noisey:
The title comes from a poem by Russian poet, Marina Tsvetaeva. We recorded at machines with magnets in Rhode Island with official/unofficial third and fourth members, Keith Souza and Seth Manchester who also played keyboards on this. ‘What is the main thing in love? To know and to hide. To know about the one you love and to hide that you love. At times the hiding (shame) overpowers the knowing (passion). The passion for the hidden — the passion for the revealed.
