PUP – “Sleep In The Heat” Video
PUP have shared a video for “Sleep In The Heat,” a highlight from their stellar new album, The Dream Is Over. It stars Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhand as a younger version of vocalist Stefan Babcock, a role he’s reprising from his pre-fame days in the group’s 2014 video for “Guilt Trip.” The video, which was directed by longtime collaborator Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux, follows the kid version of PUP around on tour as they pick up a dog on the road and eventually have to give it up in the saddest circumstances possible. The clip ends with an ode to the Canadian crew’s own four-legged friends, including chameleon Norman, star of the “Mabu” video and the inspiration behind the track.
“‘Sleep In The Heat’ is a song about my chameleon Norman, who passed away while we were writing this record,” Babcock says in a press release. “Jeremy was the one who thought we should make a video for this song. He has this really weird one-eyed grumpy cat that he loves a lot, and I guess the song got him thinking about what it’s going to be like when she’s gone. Losing a friend is something so many of us have had to deal with, which is why I think this video is so powerful.”
