There’s a new mogwai record coming out! (That’s “mogwai” as in the little creatures from the 1984 horror comedy Gremlins, not “Mogwai” the great Scottish post-rock band). Entertainment Weekly reports that Mondo is releasing the original Gremlins soundtrack in a new 2xLP box set just in time for the holidays, and just like the mogwai themselves, you’re not supposed to expose it to sunlight or get it wet. Well, actually, you are — the artwork from Phantom City Creative features an ultraviolet-sensitive gatefold jacket and water-sensitive disc sleeves that reveal hidden art and messages when exposed to sunlight or a damp cloth. (You can, however, feed the box set after midnight, so I guess that rule isn’t as important.) See the effects below.
