The great Leonard Cohen passed away a little over a week ago, continuing an unrelentingly shitty 2016. Since his death there has rightly been a heartening outpour of reverence for him. Lana Del Rey, Coldplay, Okkervil River, SNL, Carseat Headrest, James Taylor, Yo-Yo Ma have all shared tributes to Cohen already, and now there's an event entitled "Songs of Love And Hate: A San Francisco Tribute to Leonard Cohen" that will be held in his honor in San Francisco. Mark Kozelek, Christopher Owens, and the Fresh & Onlys' Tim Cohen (no relation) are all participating along with Tim Bluhm (of The Mother Hips), Sean Hayes, and Marc Capelle. Sylvie Simmons, the author of I'm Your Man: The Life Of Leonard Cohen, will also share personal reflections and stories, and San Francisco Choir Conspiracy Of Beard will also perform. It all goes down on 11/27 at The Chapel in Frisco with all proceeds going to benefit the San Francisco Community Music Center. Tickets can be purchased here.
