Angel Haze – “Resurrection”
Detroit spitfire Angel Haze has been on a hiatus since last year’s Back To The Woods, giving Dej Loaf time to come for the queen of Detroit throne. On “Resurrection,” Haze is back like they never left and apparently ready to wreck everything that gets in the way of her triumphant return. A woozy, dramatic, violin-laced beat is the backdrop as Haze switches multiple emphatic flows overflowing with verve. Sample venom: “2016, the year I rise/ Like the phoenix, yeah man, my shit on fire/ Cop the new McLaren just to sit outside/ If you disrespect it my clique gon’ ride.” It’s an understatement to say they’re back with a vengeance. Here’s what Haze had to say about the song and their attitude coming back:
Listen, I don’t give a fuck. That’s the only difference. I don’t give one single fuck. I’m here with my heart open and my lungs full of what god has given me. It’s just my views.
Haze’s sophomore album, the official follow-up to 2013’s Dirty Gold, is expected next year.
