Watch D.R.A.M. & Erykah Badu Perform “WiFi” At The Soul Train Awards
Last night, for the second year running, Erykah Badu hosted BET’s R&B-centric Soul Train Awards, and she didn’t shy away from performing herself. Badu is reportedly working on a full EP of collaborations with the Virginia howler D.R.A.M., and the two of them sang together onstage for the first time last night, doing the miasmic and gorgeous “WiFi,” a song from D.R.A.M.’s excellent debut album Big Baby D.R.A.M. On a set made up to look like a living room, the two of them practically sat in each other’s laps; it was awesome. And Badu once again played the DJ during the Soul Cypher, the show’s version of the BET Hip-Hop Awards’ great freestyle videos. This time around, the Soul Cypher featured euphoric ad-libs from Ne-Yo, Angie Stone, Tyrese, and the legendary Gladys Knight, who pretty much sang the lights out. Watch videos of the D.R.A.M. performance and the Soul Cypher below.

The show also featured an all-star tribute to new jack swing pioneer Teddy Riley, a career-spanning medley from Brandy, and Anderson .Paak and BJ The Chicago Kid teaming up to sing “The Waters,” but BET has done a crap job at making those videos widely available, which is why that terrible Twitter video is the only postable version of the D.R.A.M./Badu video out there. But if you should want to watch the whole show, you can do that here.
