Toronto avant-pop sculptor John Southworth followed up his 2014 double-LP Niagara with Small Town Water Tower earlier this month. Today, he's released a video for the percussion-heavy groove "Champion Of Love" that was inspired by Triple Crown-winning horse American Pharoah. It's a simple clip that contrasts cosmopolitan imagery against rustic farm landscapes while Southworth himself does some quirky dancing alongside a woman dressed in traditional Egyptian garb. There are a lot of moving parts that seem out of step with the loving sentiment of the song, but somehow it still works. Check it out below.
