Yasiin Bey Announces Two More Albums
A few weeks ago, Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def) announced a series of farewell shows in New York City and Washington, DC that are meant to signal the end of his career in the music business. Before that happens, however, Bey has now announced three albums worth of material that’s expected to come out before the end of the year. One of them, a collaboration with producer Ferrari Sheppard called December 99th, is due out on 12/9, and two more albums — one called Negus In Natural Person (solo) and another called As Promised (with Mannie Fresh) — are also expected to be released soon, and Bey will debut them at the Apollo theater shows later this month.
Bey revealed the details during a radio interview while at Art Basel in Miami, where he also performed some new music at a show. Watch and listen to some of the new material (via Highsnobiety and Pigeons & Planes) below.
