Alan Thicke, the Canadian-born actor, songwriter, TV host, and father of singer Robin Thicke, has died. TMZ reports that he suffered a heart attack this afternoon while playing hockey with his 19-year-old son Carter. He was 69.

In addition to hosting several game shows and talk shows and starring as Jason Seaver, the dad on the '80s sitcom Growing Pains, Thicke had a successful side career as a TV theme song composer. Often collaborating with his then-wife Gloria Loring, he wrote the iconic theme songs to shows like Diff'rent Strokes, Wheel Of Fortune, Growing Pains, and The Facts Of Life.

Thicke is survived by his wife Tanya Callau and his three sons Robin, Brennan, and Carter.
