John Legend Is Pissed At Kanye West For Meeting With Donald Trump

Kanye West is John Legend's friend, frequent collaborator, former tourmate, and label boss, but that doesn't mean Legend agrees with West about everything. And regarding West's recent decision to meet with Donald Trump in Trump Tower, Legend is as mystified as the rest of us. As Pitchfork points out, Legend recently spoke with the French TV show Clique, calling the meeting a "publicity stunt" and adding that he finds West's participation "very disappointing." Here's what Legend had to say:

I don’t think it’s impossible to talk to him about issues, but I won’t be used as a publicity stunt. And I think Kanye was a publicity stunt. I’m pretty disappointed with Kanye that he says he would have voted for Trump. I think Trump has been corrosive, his message has been corrosive to the country and I think the things he’s promised to do have been very concerning for a lot of people. And for Kanye to support that message is very disappointing.... Whatever was in his mind, I disagree with him.
