Last night, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin played a surprise last-minute benefit show at the small New York venue Mercury Lounge, raising money from the Manhattan homeless shelter the Bowery Mission. During his set, Martin sang a few Coldplay singalong nuggets: "Fix You," "Yellow," "A Sky Full Of Stars," that kind of thing. But he devoted much of his set to covers, including songs like Drake's "Hotline Bling," the Beatles' "Yesterday," and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." Martin was completely solo for about half the show, and for the other half, he had accompaniment from a few musicians from the Bowery Mission, including one guy who effortlessly outsang Martin on "Yesterday." Below, watch fan-made video of Martin singing "Hotline Bling," "Yesterday," "Hallelujah," Bing Crosby's "White Christmas," and "Amazing Grace."
