Vancouver’s Jamison (just Jamison, no surname) has been making solid, unassuming dance records as Teen Daze for quite some time now. His most recent album, Morning World, dropped in 2015. He’s set to follow it up with Themes For Dying Earth in a little less than a month. Opener “Cycle” was the lead single, and today he shares the followup, “First Rain” featuring S. Carey. It’s a soothing, rain-drenched ballad that switches gears from his normally dense production style. Warped synths wind around celestial chimes and serene keys as Carey’s smooth, gauzy tenor drifts over the sparsely beautiful soundscape as he sings “On the way to nowhere/ Fuel for a trip to nowhere.” It’s the perfect song for wandering contemplation and meditation.
