Watch The xx Cover Drake & Rihanna’s “Too Good” In The BBC Live Lounge
The xx are, after a fashion, Drake and Rihanna collaborators. After all, “Take Care,” the best of Drake and Rihanna’s collaborations, was built on a sample of one of Jamie xx’s Gil Scott-Heron remixes. And now, as Pitchfork points out, the xx have tried out a cover of “Too Good,” the recent Drake/Rihanna hit from Drake’s Views album. The xx were doing a live-in-studio session for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge, promoting their new album I See You when they did their characteristically skeletal, stripped-back, lovely version of “Too Good.” It’s a great version of a good song, and Romy Madley Croft called the original “secret emo,” which is a cool phrase. You can hear it by heading over here and skipping to the 2:15:32 mark or watching below.
I See You is out today on Young Turks.
