Stream Sloppy Heads Useless Smile
In the “Nothing To Hide” video, young lo-fu luminaries Times New Viking portrayed indie rock legends Yo La Tengo. Sloppy Heads, a new Brooklyn band associated with Yo La Tengo’s James McNew, sound like that reality come to life, like YLT’s thoughtfully omnivorous record-nerd music performed with TNV’s slapdash immediacy. It’s an immensely satisfying sound, primitive and playful and unpredictable. We’ve posted the gently floating “Always Running” and the ebullient pop-rocker “The Suck,” and now Sloppy Heads’ debut album Useless Smile is ready to be revealed in full. It’s out next Friday, but we’ve got an early stream today. Stream it below, and check out their smattering of previous releases if you so desire.
Sloppy Heads have a couple shows coming up:
01/25 Brooklyn, NY @ Union Pool * Album Release Show with Dump*
02/04 Brooklyn, NY @ The Gutter
Useless Smile is out 1/27 on Shrimper. Pre-order it here.
