Last month, the much-loved New York duo Chairlift announced their breakup, and they’ll head out on a farewell tour this spring. In their breakup announcement, the duo said that frontwoman Caroline Polachek would be making music as a solo artist, and we already get to hear what she’s up to. Today, Polachek has released a surprise album of instrumental music. And it’s free.

Recording under the name CEP, Polachek has just shared her new LP Drawing The Target Around The Arrow. She only gave a tiny bit of warning in the form of a tweet yesterday:

The former Stereogum staffer Brandon Stosuy recently started the new site the Creative Independent, and that site is offering the 18-track album as a free download.
