Modern Baseball are heading out on tour in Europe next week with Thin Lips and the Superweaks, and to mark the occasion all three bands are joining together to release a split 7". You can hear the whole thing online starting tomorrow, and today Modern Baseball have shared their contribution "This Song Is Gonna Buy Brendan Lukens A New Pair Of Socks." "I don't like you, and I don't have to," Jake Ewald begins, the band playing behind him in what sounds like a tin can, before soon locking into a fuller groove of arpeggiated guitars and driving distortion. It's the first song the band penned since the sessions for Holy Ghost, one of the past year's best albums. "When I was 18 I could not love her/ I was always thinking of the one she left behind," Ewald sings on the song's bare middle section. "Now I don't see her/ She loves another/ And in my pride I thought I had it figured out." It all burns brightly out with a simple, searing guitar solo. Listen below.
The split 7" is out 1/20 via Big Scary Monsters and Lame-O Records.
