Philadelphia folkies Shadow Band are disciples of the old English scene that gave us Pentangle and Fairport Convention, but they approach it with a baroque twilight aesthetic befitting Weyes Blood or latter-day Radiohead. Or at least that’s the vibe I’m picking up from “Daylight,” the latest advance single from the group’s upcoming Wilderness Of Love. Mike Bruno and his acoustic fingerpicking are elevated to eerie transcendence by little more than some ghostly backing singers and some simple, delicate instrumental flourishes. It’s awesomely gorgeous, so listen below.
