Lion Babe – “Rockets” (Feat. Moe Moks)
NYC’s Lion Babe — Jillian Hervey and Lucas Goodman’s breezy pop project — have released the first single from a forthcoming EP due in the spring. “Rockets,” which features rapper Moe Moks, is an excellent reintroduction to Lion Babe, who released their debut album, Begin, and the subsequent Sun Joint mixtape last year. Hervey is composed and intuitively cool, singing with an ANTI-era Rihanna attitude over Goodman’s chill-hop lounge music. “We lit, we lit,” she harmonizes with Moe Moks over flute riffs and bass, before dropping a barrage of soulful boasts in quick succession: “Fly like I’m NASA/ Move my hips like a salsa/ I’m like butter on a lobstah.” Listen below via Noisey.
Lion Babe’s as-yet-unannounced new EP will be out this spring.
