Experimental indie R&B outfit Bernice juxtapose songwriter Robin Dann’s soulful crooning with a strong yet subtle dance floor backbone. Joined by a host of musicians from Toronto’s experimental music scene, Dann puts this same spin on new single “Don’t Wanna Be European,” weaving industrial beats into a shimmering, 3D dreamscape.

Late last year we got a taste of Bernice’s new material with the pumping lead single,
“St. Lucia,” which we named one of our favorite songs of the week. Trading in the single’s pop sensibility, “Don’t Wanna Be European” takes on more of an edge, building rich layers of sound that only dim for moments of Dann’s immersive, show-stopping vocal arrangements.
