Royal Trux Announce First Album In 17 Years
Beloved ’90s trash-blues duo Royal Trux haven’t released an album since 2000’s Pound For Pound, and they broke up in 2001. But they got back together two years ago to play a show at the Berserktown II Festival in Los Angeles. And now they’ve announced a new album, their first in 17 years, set to come out this summer. The band recorded the new Platinum Tips & Ice Cream in two days — one before that LA show, and another before their 2015 show in New York. They recorded everything live, keeping that raw immediacy that was always a part of what we did. It’ll be fascinating to hear if they still sound as raw and grimy as they did the first time around.
Platinum Tips & Ice Cream is out 6/16 on Drag City.
