Stream Kodak Black Painting Pictures
The tremendously gifted young Florida rapper Kodak Black is currently in jail after violating his probation, but that hasn’t stopped Atlantic from releasing Painting Pictures, Kodak’s eagerly anticipated new album. It’s Kodak’s official debut LP after a string of excellent mixtapes, most recently last year’s Lil B.I.G. Pac. And on first listen, it’s a powerful artistic statement from a kid who can’t seem to stay out of trouble. Kodak is great at croaking out these bluesy, empathetic melodies in ways that remind me of prime-era Lil Wayne, and he’s got a serious ear for what production works for him. The album includes the early singles “There He Go” and “Tunnel Vision,” as well as guest appearances from Future, Young Thug, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Jeezy, and Bun B. And right now, you can stream the whole thing below.
Painting Pictures is out now on Atlantic.
