Cheap Fantasy – “Life Of Glass”
For a couple years, Minneapolis-based musician Jordan Bleau fronted the fizzy pop-rock band Frankie Teardrop, but after they broke up last year — their final album was 2016’s very fun Hell Yep — he moved on to putting out gauzy synth-pop music under the name Cheap Fantasy. Bleau is gearing up to release the project’s debut EP, Life Of Glass, next month, and today he’s sharing its lead single and title track. “Life Of Glass” starts off muted and creeping, Bleau’s voice stumbling over the shuffling beat, but it’s when it morphs into a chiming and gorgeous duet that the song really begins to soar. “Is there anything inside of this feeling anymore?” they ask, a tortured and weighty self-reflection. Listen below.
