Mark Kozelek & Sean Yeaton – “The Reasons I Love You”
Mark Kozelek and nu-metal-loving Parquet Courts bassist Sean Yeaton have a collaborative album called Yellow Kitchen coming out at the end of the month, and as Brooklyn Vegan points out, one of the tracks is now streaming at Kozelek’s website. It’s called “The Reasons I Love You,” and it’s a heartfelt love song for Kozelek’s girlfriend, Caroline. Although it’s performed in the rambling, stream-of-consciousness style that typifies Kozelek’s latter-day output, it’s a lot more melodious and structured than some of his more discursive experiments. I like it a lot! Among the reasons Kozelek loves Caroline:
•”Because your face lights my day up like a sun and ’cause we both love our cats like they’re our daughters and our sons”
•”How you comforted me when they kicked me out of the zoo for showing my nipples to the monkeys and the baboons”
•”Because you’re ladylike and sweet and totally adorable we both like to take good care of our hardwood floors”
•”Because you’re a wonderful lover and your body fits so perfectly with mine and we both love the same HBO series and documentaries on Netflix”
