Hear Lorde Break Down Every Track On Melodrama
On Friday, Lorde released her excellent sophomore album, Melodrama. Before the album was released, she sat down with New Zealand publication The Spinoff for a track-by-track breakdown of her new album. Among the many takeaways: It was actually “Royals” that Max Martin called “incorrect songwriting,” not lead single “Green Light”; she used Frank Ocean as a guiding post: “In this sort of post-Blonde landscape, we can all sort of do whatever we want in terms of instrumentation.”; and she’s already thinking about the next album, at least in the abstract: “I think I know what the next record is going to sound like, but of course I have no idea. It’s gonna be really different to what I think it is right now.” You can download all of the individual episodes as a .zip file here (right-click and hit “save as”) or stream them all below.
Melodrama is out now via Republic/Lava.
