Earlier this year, Arcade Fire's Tim Kingsbury released Yeah You, And I, his debut solo album under the name Sam Patch. And today, he's back with a new video for the LP's surging, searching lead single "St. Sebastian," a beautiful, strange piece of work directed by Brantley Gutierrez. It starts out chronicling a day in the life of an office drudge before taking a sharp left turn into the surreal, ending up as an underwater fantasia featuring synchronized swimmers and mirror effects.
"I had the idea to do a video for this song that was set underwater.I liked the idea of somebody being in a normal, everyday and mundane situation but totally oblivious to the fact that they were underwater," Kingsbury explains. "I kind of knew that it would be a challenging thing to do but Brantley and Kyle [Schember, who produced the video] really helped make it real. Brantley finessed and evolved the concept and had the idea to have the swimmers in it and I think that really pushed it in to a fun and beautiful place. I think Brantley, Kyle and everyone else involved really did a great job." Watch below.
