DIIV are playing an acoustic concert next month in Brooklyn, and they’re making it sound pretty enticing today via a new cover released to promote the event. Zachary Cole Smith recorded “Cow” from Sparklehorse’s 1995 debut Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot with Chris Cohen on drums and Benji Lysaght on guitar, and you can hear it below alongside the original. The late Mark Linkous would be proud, I think.

Smith has always been a big Nirvana fan, and after this cover I’d be interested in hearing DIIV’s version of MTV Unplugged In New York.
