Scripted Drama About Mariah Carey’s Early Years Coming To Starz

Mariah Carey is getting a TV show to go with her upcoming movie based on "All I Want For Christmas Is You," which is somehow a thing. Deadline reports that Starz is developing a scripted drama about a young Carey's rise to fame, executive produced by Carey herself alongside her longtime friend Brett Ratner. The series, set in NYC in 1986, "chronicles the rise of an ambitious bi-racial 16-year-old girl, an aspiring singer-songwriter who survived a difficult childhood to become the biggest selling female music artist of all time." Nina Colman will serves as writer and showrunner, and Colman, Stella Bulochnikov, Teri Weinberg, and John Cheng are also executive producing.
