Watch Sufjan Stevens, Bryce Dessner, Nico Muhly, & James McAlister Play “Mercury” On Colbert
Last month, Sufjan Stevens got together with fellow orchestral-impressionist types Bryce Dessner, Nico Muhly, and James McAlister to release Planetarium, a concept album about the solar system. And last night on Stephen Colbert’s Late Show, the four of them, along with various string and horn players, assembled to perform the lilting, cinematic single “Mercury.” It’s a rare chance to see Stevens perform in something other than, like, glittery angel wings.
