DSARDY – “Step Ahead” (Feat. Son Little) Video
Producer and film score composer Dave Sardy has worked with LCD Soundsystem, Oasis, and Spoon, and earlier this week, he announced a new multi-vocalist project featuring My Morning Jacket’s Jim James, Band Of Horses’ Ben Bridwell, KFlay, Macy Grey, Glass Animals, and more. Lead single “Step Ahead” is an intense piece of work, a brooding, electro-tinged rocker fronted by Philadelphia soul singer Son Little, and now it’s been given an appropriately intense music video. Directed by Dan Huiting and The Uprising Creative, it follows a slick Patrick Bateman type who deals death and destruction in the form of what looks like a gold version of the chrome the War Boys huff in Mad Max: Fury Road.
“The vocal on ‘Step Ahead’ came about in an odd way. We had finished working on another track and he asked if I had anything else to check out. I had always assumed I would have a woman sing on this track but for some reason I played it to Aaron (Son Little) and he asked to try something over the top of it,” DSARDY explains. “He listened down twice and wrote excellent lyrics on the spot. The low haunting melody and his delivery were at first a bit shocking and not what I expected at all but, I quickly fell in love with it. The video came about from an idea Dan Huiting with The Uprising Creative had. They did an excellent job. And we got to burn some cars. Always fun. Haven’t burned cars since my misspent childhood in Brooklyn.”
