Gregg Allman died earlier this year from complications with liver cancer, but he had been working on an album before he passed away. That album, called Southern Blood, was recorded with his touring band and some special guests, produced by Don Was, and will come out in September. His first posthumous song, "My Only True Friend," was released today, and you can listen to it via NPR below.

Southern Blood is out 9/8 via Rounder Records.
