After years of self-releasing his music, Brooklyn-via-Maine singer-songwriter Luke Rathborne, who’s also directed music videos for the likes of Nice As Fuck and Those Pretty Wrongs, recently signed to Ribbon Music. And earlier this month, to celebrate his new home, he shared two new songs. “Don’t Call Me Baby” is a delightful slice of fully realized retro-pop classicism, while “I Wish I Was A Bird” is something darker and weirder, a fuzzed-out eight-and-a-half-minute ballad filled with a few keyboard twinkles and lots of open space.
