Haley Fohr has been making mind-bending experimental music as Circuit des Yeux for almost a decade now and, after a brief pause last year to assume the alter ego Jackie Lynn, she’s back with a new album called Reaching For Indigo. It’s her first for Drag City, and it was inspired by “a moment that fell down in the life of Haley Fohr on January 22, 2016,” whatever that means. Lead single “Paper Bag” is sharp and transformational, starting off as a back-and-forth coo before solidifying halfway through into a scratchy acoustic pinprick. “Stick your head into a paper bag and see just what you find,” Fohr intones as a directive.
