Fiona Apple Shares Video Message For Sinéad O’Connor: “You Are My Hero”
Last week, Sinead O’Connor posted a video to her Facebook page where she discussed her mental health history and said that she was having suicidal thoughts and was staying in a New Jersey motel. Soon after, Fiona Apple — who herself has been open about her own mental health — posted a video message of support to O’Connor. “I want you to know that you are my hero, as well,” she said. “I just saw the video of you and I don’t want you to feel like that. I don’t want you to feel like that. You’ve given so much and I wish I could be there, I wish I could be of some use to you, I wish I could… I’m your friend. That’s all I wanted to say. And you’re my hero.” See the video below.
O’Connor has posted a number of times on her personal Facebook since sharing her video last Thursday (8/3). Yesterday, she said that she was in the hospital after passing a kidney stone and is still under observation, and that she will eventually be moved to a “domestic abuse survivors community” located near the hospital.
She also said that she fired her manager, Bruce Garfield, and Billboard reports that she hired Anna M. Sala as her manager in his place. Sala issued a statement that reads in part: “She is receiving the best medical care. She is lovingly supported by a musician advocacy organization with a team of people who are working with her on the road to healing. She is improving day by day.”
