Lost Under Heaven – “For The Wild” Video
Former WU LYFer Ellery James Roberts and Ebony Hoorn have been working at their Lost Under Heaven project since 2014. They released their debut album, Spiritual Songs For Lovers To Sing, in 2016, and today they’re announcing its full-length follow-up, Love Hates What You Become, which was recorded by John Congleton in Los Angeles. They’ve shared a couple tracks from it over the last few months, “The Breath Of Light” and “Bunny’s Blues,” and today they’re sharing another one called “For The Wild.”
Roberts says that “For The Wild” has been in the works for a while: “I started writing that song years ago almost as a pastiche of trying to write real this rock’n’roll saviour,” he said in a press release. “The rock’n’roll revolutionary feels such a culturally irrelevant cliché now, we’re living in a mechanised world seemingly indifferent to the longings of the human soul.” The track is characteristic of LUH’s widescreen, cinematic scope — a towering statue of glittering noise.
The track comes alongside a music video, which Roberts frames as such:
It’s based off a short story I have been writing about an absurd preacher, whose lack of a charismatic populist message leaves him without a congregation. Alone and increasingly desperate to communicate his self-appointed duty, he ventures out into nature, surrendering to the wild, until eventually he embraces his and humanity’s insignificance in the cosmos.
