We are all stressed the fuck out right now, and we’re all going to have to find our own ways to deal with it. I can’t tell you what’ll work for you, but I can tell you that playing punk rock really loud is working pretty well for me. So the Honolulu band SØØN really picked the exact right moment to release their perfectly titled debut album WHAT THE FUCK DID WE DØ TØ THE EARTH.

SØØN have been around since 2018, and they released a demo last year. Today, they’ve unleashed a raw, brutal, deeply satisfying full-length. SØØN’s version of hardcore is fast and frantic and ugly, but it’s also linear. When they launch into a metallic midtempo stomp-riff, they absolutely destroy. Frontwoman Kalena’s got an absolutely massive howl, and even though I can almost never tell what she’s saying, I can sure as hell understand the general wrath-of-god sentiment. There are 12 songs on this album, and only a couple of them even break the one-minute mark. This is the good shit, and you can stream it below.
