Bad Company Singer Brian Howe Dead At 66
The British rock singer Brian Howe, most famous for his stint as the frontman of Bad Company in the ’80s and ’90s, has died. TMZ reports that Howe died of cardiac arrest while at home in Florida yesterday. Howe was 66.
Howe, a native of Portsmouth, sang for the British groups Shy and White Spirit. He had his big breakthrough in 1984, when Ted Nugent recruited him to sing on the 1984 album Penetrator. Howe left Nugent shortly afterward, and in 1986, he joined Bad Company.
Bad Company had formed in 1974 and broken up in 1983. Former members Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke wanted to form a new band in 1986, but at the insistence of their record label, they kept the Bad Company name. Howe came aboard and became one of the main songwriters, and the newly reconstituted Bad Company was fairly successful into the ’90s. Howe left Bad Company in 1994, and he went on to release a few solo albums.
