Sia Apologizes For Mixing Up Nicki Minaj And Cardi B
Sia mixed up Nicki Minaj and Cardi B in a tweet over the weekend, prompting a #SiaIsOverParty hashtag and a couple different apologies. It all started when a fan tweeted a picture of Nicki Minaj at her wearing a black-and-blonde wig that looks similar to the one that Sia uses to cover her face. She responded to the tweet by saying that she loved Cardi B and would love to collaborate with her.
Sia quickly deleted that when people on Twitter started to call her out on it, saying “My fuck up,” and then doubled down in a series of now-deleted tweets in an effort to tie this snafu in with the current moment.
“Dudes. I also like @MissNikkiiBaby [Note: Not @NickiMinaj’s Twitter handle.] I don’t give a shit about feuds, George Floyd was fucking murdered Breonna Taylor. Murdered. Come on let’s rise in unity. You think @iamcardib and Nikki are so petty that they would want you focusing on a silly feud instead of REAL NEWS?” And next: “Hey @iamcardib @NICKIMINAJ you aren’t thinking about a feud right now are you? We are focused on the problem of systemic racism”
She then deleted those tweets and apologized yet again. “I totally misunderstood a tweet earlier that has resulted in me making a buffoon out of myself. Sorry @NICKIMINAJ and @iamcardib if you hear about it. Can I just like you both?” That tweet still stands.
Nicki Minaj and Cardi B haven’t mentioned it.
