Carly Rae Jepsen – “It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries”
Carly Rae Jepsen is coming for you this holiday season. Jepsen has dabbled into the Christmas industrial complex a couple of times before: a few years ago with an enjoyable cover of Wham!’s “Last Christmas” and a few years before that with the original “Mittens” (not good). Today, she’s releasing an all-new holiday original called “It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries.”
It’s her third one-off single of 2020 following “Let’s Be Friends,” which was released for Valentine’s Day, and “Me And The Boys In The Band,” which was released soon after we found out about Jepsen’s supposed quarantine album that has not yet materialized. She also released Dedicated: Side B, a collection of leftovers from her last proper album Dedicated.
“I love the old fashioned movies and the family traditions and the excitement of gifting presents and decorating the tree and and and… my list is endless,” Jepsen said in a statement. “But each year the pressure to have the perfect Christmas always ends in tears. I call it Christmas versus expectation.” Listen to “It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries” below.
