Miley Cyrus – “Prisoner” (Feat. Dua Lipa)
Miley Cyrus is releasing her latest album, Plastic Hearts, next week. It includes her recent covers of “Heart Of Glass” and “Zombie,” but so far the only proper single we’ve gotten from it has been “Midnight Sky,” which a couple weeks ago got a Stevie Nicks-featuring remix.
Tonight, Cyrus is sharing Plastic Hearts‘ second single, “Prisoner,” and it’s a collaboration with Dua Lipa, who has been having a very busy 2020 between Future Nostalgia, its corresponding remix album, and her star turn as a soccer player in a video game. Cyrus teased their collaboration a few months ago by posting a photo on Instagram saying: “Dua has heard what you haven’t….”
“Prisoner” is out now with a video and you can listen to/watch it below.
Here’s what Cyrus had to say about the track in an interview with Apple Music:
What I love about “Prisoner,” I mean, I think it’s also coming at a perfect time for everybody. I mean, in a way … I feel too, I mean, we’re just trapped in our emotions right now. I mean, really me, there’s no escaping it. It’s like, “Locked up, can’t get you off my mind.” Anything that you’ve tried to suppress or compartmentalize at that point, it’s coming up. It’s yours to own, to own it or release it. In a way, her and I, we have a lot of things in common, if you look at us.I would say our love for fashion, this is my number one, me and Dua both. She’s probably the only person that can rival my collection of fuzzy hats. We have a love for fuzzy hats.
