Garrett Falls Lockhart, the electronic DJ and producer known as i_o, has died. A message posted to his social media accounts today confirms i_o’s death Monday from unnamed causes. He was 30 years old.

Indie music fans likely know i_o from “Violence,” his collaboration with Grimes from this year’s Miss Anthropocene album. In the EDM world, he was a rising star, recently signing to Armin van Buuren’s Armada Music and launching his own imprint Label 444. He also released music on labels run by Deadmau5 and Above & Beyond.

On Monday, November 23rd, the world lost a beautiful soul, Garrett Falls Lockhart, also known as i_o.

This extremely talented spirit taught us that even if nothing matters, you can still lead with love.

Garrett’s truth and soul lives on through the music he shared.
