Mediocre – “Fun Time Fix (We Go Go)”

Mediocre earned our Band To Watch honor in 2022 with only one EP under their belt. Since then, they released another EP, titled To Know You’re Screwed. Today, the LA indie rock duo is announcing their debut full-length, Growth Eater. The lead single, “Fun Time Fix (We Go Go),” out today, already proves it’s going to be great.

“Sometimes everyone needs a light-hearted time with friends, where you put whatever is causing you pain aside and let go,” the band explained about the song. “In the context of the album, which comments on the discomfort of growth, ‘Fun Time Fix’ highlights the joy and beauty that exists in the midst of all the growing pains. We were inspired by early 2000’s dance pop that acted as soundtracks of our early adolescent years, and wanted to hone in on that nostalgia and what role it plays for blissful distraction during these current times in our adult lives.”

“Fun Time Fix (We Go Go)” gets more gratifying and infectious with every second. The band — made up of guitarist/vocalist Piper Torrison and bassist/vocalist Keely Martin — were joined by drummer Jake Pavlica and producer Danny Nogueiras (Together Pangea, No Win) for Growth Eater. They name Tegan And Sara’s The Con, Jenny Lewis, and Broken Social Scene as influences. Check out the “Fun Time Fix (We Go Go)” music video below, directed by Torrison and Martin themselves.
