One of the best articles I've read in a while. Been a shitty year for me, but once I find employment again I'll sub for more like this ❤️ | |

Meanwhile, "Digging In The Dirt" brings my Alternative Live Scorecard to 20.5, me having taken my then 8-year-old to see Peter Gabriel last year on his insistence. The aforementioned WERS serves up "Red Rain" from time to time, and it bafflingly became his favorite song for a season or two, which I did nothing to discourage. And when the station started playing "Road To Joy" a fair bit, the kid, who by now realized that I wasn't going to be able to take him to see Taylor Swift as I am not made of ridiculous money, started moping about going to Peter Gabriel. A couple of successful spins of Shaking The Tree on road trips later and spacecitywife and I took him to his very first concert.
Luckily for everyone, Gabriel puts a great deal of visual inventiveness into his stage show, so even when spacecitykid didn't know the songs, he could marvel at the lightscreen that Gabriel manipulated from behind and the artwork and videos that accompanied the songs. (His love of "Road To Joy" was rewarded with a computer-generated middle finger that spun as the song played.) Gabriel was terrific, his band was terrific – it turns out that I was almost as excited to finally see Manu Katché as I was Gabriel, with Tony Levin not far behind – and the boy had a great time. Alas, a three-hour, two-set concert on a school night proved too much for him, as he fell asleep six songs from the end. Right after "Red Rain."
Also out around this time; my favorite song off my fav album of all time. https://youtu.be/v4dszeju8rk?si=Y6OB4y_HEygEsMeP
This keeps happening because as everyone knows everything in Australia is upside down; it's actually amazing that he was able to keep his feet on the stage for as long as he did
one of the most unapproachable/grumpy dudes regularly being bombarded with hugs at shows will always be funny to me
For a fanbase who are so chronically online it's kinda scary, you'd think the Swifties would at least be aware that we already did Tyler's cancellation throughout the mid-10s (I think he was even banned from the UK at one point?), he owned up to, wrestled with, and grew past his bigotry on-record ever since. We done this.Move on.
He's right and he has a great guitar tone
"Stick to your discounted crotch" 🤣
Rough, rough day here in the US. Thanks for the worthy distraction.
Whew, I'm glad I'm not on Drake's bad side. I don't know how I'd cope with him staring at me a lot in his big fluffy coat. Chills
I can’t imagine being so obsessed with my favorite artist that I’d basically have a full time job (where I don’t get paid) to be that artist’s online bodyguard to defend them against any criticism or hate.
