A song I had absolutely no emotional connection to until suddenly I did: Two years ago my band was set to play the fountain square downtown as part of a free concert series the city puts on every summer. About a week beforehand, we get a cold message asking if we do requests. I said no... but just out of curiosity, asked what he wanted. "Perfect, by Ed Sheeran." Just out of curiosity, why? "I want to propose to my girlfriend at fountain square." I explained that we mostly yell about fuck the cops etc, but said I would ask the band. It was so out of pocket and charming that we contacted a friend who could actually sing, and played Perfect to his proposal in between songs about burning the rich and killing your local nazi. She said yes, there was a photographer, we gave them a shirt, it was great. 5/10 song, but a 10/10 moment as a musician | |

Weird thing to complain about a Nick Cave song having the word panties in it, considering he had another one with the line "my hand down her panties" like 20 years ago. Honestly the internet's neo-puritanism is starting to get exhausting.
Wow, this was a great read.I like the people not wanting to speak on record as if the mafia was coming for them.
sorry, but my interest in M.I.A. has gone M.I.A.
People are writing Nick Cave to complain about him being horny.
I bought a set of "Directed by David Lynch" stickers years ago and slapped one on my old water heater as a dumb sort of Phillip Jeffries joke.
This Monday it finally went and as we were replacing it, the plumber remarks "I think we did the last install in 2006 - us or this David Lynch guy." I'd like to think it was a perfect DL moment, because I think he would have hated/ignored someone who cares about a lore in-joke (me), but would have loved someone mistaking him for a water heater specialist.
As someone who also has an intense love, admiration, and a lot of weird feelings about their formative time living in Philadelphia - a huge RIP.

i told my girl i was going to take her to O-Town.She seemed pretty disappointed when i drove her to a concert venue.
to quote myself from discord
I mean, they weren't lying.
January claims another one of my GOATs. First Bowie, now Lynch.
This one hurts so much.
Lynch has been one of America's greatest artistic exports for so long. Knowing he was out there living his own artistic dream has always been an inspiration.
I've had a Dark Night of the Soul poster on my walls since 2009 when he collaborated with Sparklehorse & Danger Mouse. Always haunting since Mark and Vic passed away within a year of that compilation being released.
Then with the passing of Catherine Coulson, Miguel Ferrer, Harry Dean Stanton and of course Bowie synchronizing with the release of Twin Peaks: The Return, it seemed death was haunting Lynch's projects in the 21st century.
I know he had very bad health problems as of late and was recently evacuated from the L.A. fires. It's still so sad to think he's gone for good.
At least, it would seem, he has a lot of friends waiting for him on the other side. Maybe he'll get to see his buddy Jack Nance again.
RIP David.
