At least from a film-nerd perspective, one of the year's most anticipated movies is the upcoming Spike Lee joint Highest 2 Lowest, a loose remake of the Akira Kurosawa classic High & Low. In the Kurosawa picture, Toshirō Mifune played a businessman at a shoe company trying to help his chauffeur after the chauffeur's son has accidentally been kidnapped. In Highest 2 Lowest, Denzel Washington, Spike Lee's greatest lead, stars as a record-label exec, a fun twist. And it sure looks like A$AP Rocky will be the villain.
We already posted a Highest 2 Lowest teaser a few months ago, but now there's a longer preview that gives a better sense of what we can expect. Jeffrey Wright plays the chauffeur character, and there's at least some chance that A$AP Rocky commits the kidnapping after the Denzel Washington character ignores his music. Ice Spice reportedly has a role, too, but she's not in the preview. The trailer is set to James Brown's "The Big Payback" and what sure sounds like a new A$AP Rocky track. Check it out below.
Highest 2 Lowest is in theaters 8/15, and it's coming to Apple TV+ 9/5.
