There's a new Cillian Murphy film headed to Netflix this fall. It's called Steve, which is the name of Murphy's character, and is based on Max Porter’s bestselling novel Shy. The film was written by Porter himself and directed by Tim Mielants. Alongside Murphy, the cast features rapper Little Simz, Tracey Ullman, Jay Lycurgo, and Emily Watson.
Steve takes place in the mid '90s at a reform school where head teacher Steve, according to Tudum, "fights to protect the school’s integrity and prevent its impending closure," all while "he grapples with his own mental health."
Murphy looks like he's gonna give a brilliant performance about a caring teacher whose own life troubles parallel those of his students. The trailer depicts the emotional stress all these characters. There are few brief shots of Simz as well; she sports a sick bowl cut. Check it out below.
