People from Milwaukee stick together. That's what I'm getting from this new split 7", anyway. Brewtown emo band Barely Civil released their album I'd Say I'm Not Fine last year, and now they're dropping a new split with Known Moons, a one-man indie rock project from Cream City. Sorry. Forgive me. I just Googled "Milwaukee nicknames," and the first one that came up was "Cream City." Is that real? Y'all really call it that? "Cream City" sounds like the world's least hygienic strip club. If someone has managed to prank search engines by getting them to claim that "Cream City" is a nickname for Milwaukee, my hat is off to you.
Anyway. Let's get this blog post back on track. Barely Civil and Known Moons. They made a four-song split together. It's called Barely Known, which is a better title than Cream City. Today, they share one song apiece. Barely Civil's contribution is called "BANG! SLAM! CRASH!" I assume that it's named for the sound of Milwaukee residents rioting once they learn that "Cream City" is a Google-recognized nickname for their hometown. The Known Moon song is called "TIME." I would describe these songs to you, but I have certain images flooding my brain, which is making that difficult. Just listen for yourself below.
The Barely Known split EP is out 2/6. Cream City represent.
