It's been a long time since we've heard from gobbinjr, Emma Witmer's one-person synthpop project. Back in 2016, gobbinjr became a Stereogum Artist To Watch on the strength of her debut album Manalang and her vom night EP. In 2018, she released her sophomore album ocala wick. In 2019, she shared a cover of Justin Timberlake's "My Love." Since then, nothing. But now, gobbinjr is back.
Today, gobbinjr announces that she'll release a new album called crystal rabbit moon next spring, as Under The Radar reports. Today, she shares lead single "just a dream," a blurry, gently murmuring track that she says is "about the shattering return to reality after an impossible crush falls apart." The vocals are extra-quiet, since Emma Witmer recorded them while her roommate was asleep. The song has an animated video from C.C. Mulligan; check it out below.
crystal rabbit moon is out 4/10 on Substitute Scene.
