Gorillaz have been rolling out their new album The Mountain for three months now, and we still have to wait a while for it — but not quite as long as expected. The group has bumped the project's release date ahead three weeks, from March 20 to Feb. 27.
Along with the schedule change comes another advance track. "Damascus" is so named because the Syrian city is one of many where it was recorded, along with London, Devon, Mumbai, and New York. That's just how Damon Albarn rolls. The song pairs Syrian dabke legend Omar Souleyman with New York hip-hop legend Yasiin Bey, and it's a whole lot of fun. (I especially enjoyed when the erstwhile Mos Def declares, "Turkish coffee/ Starbucks, get off me!")
