If you're in the band Nickelback, or if you're responsible for operating the band Nickelback's social media accounts, you're going to have to be OK with people making fun of you. It's part of the job. Nickelback are quite possibly this century's biggest, most obvious popular music punching bag. So when movie star and Tenacious D leader Jack Black goes semi-viral with a spirited, off-the-cuff butchering of Nickelback's signature song, the band can't really get mad about it.
Right now, Jack Black and his co-star Paul Rudd are out on the junket trail, promoting their new Anaconda reboot, which does not look very good. Recently, the two of them were doing an on-camera interview with IMDB when Black, for reasons that I cannot figure out, launched into a wild-eyed rendition of Nickelback's immortal 2001 chart-topper "How You Remind Me." He seemingly didn't know most of the words to that song, but he didn't let that stop him from belting it out with conviction.
Nickelback themselves commented on IMDB's Instagram post, writing. "The perfect song for snake-hunting. Lyrics aside, you nailed it @jackblack!" And they say that a hero could save us. I'm not gonna stand here and wait.
There's a follow-up comment from Nickelback, too: "We have an idea for the sequel: 'Best friends Jack and Paul have always dreamed of remaking the Nickelback documentary...'"
Obviously, the Anaconda reboot is not getting a sequel. Let's be serious here. But this will presumably lead to some kind of Jack Black/Nickelback collaboration, which will presumably be called Nickeljackblack.
