Life Without Buildings Reuniting For First Show In Nearly 25 Years

Glasgow post-punkers Life Without Buildings did not last long. The band made one excellent album, 2002's Any Other City, and then broke up shortly thereafter. They've never reunited, even as plenty of other bands have named them as an influence and Any Other City has grown to cult-classic status. But now, after nearly a quarter century, they're getting back together for a one-off gig.

Life Without Buildings' reunion show goes down Nov. 20 at the London venue KOKO, and it's part of the 50th-anniversary celebration for the influential label Rough Trade. Rough Trade will host a bunch of special live events over the course of the year, and the Life Without Buildings reunion is one of the first two that they've announced. The other is a rare live appearance from Jim O'Rourke, who will play alongside frequent collaborator Eiko Ishibashi at Union Chapel on Apr. 13. Tickets for both shows will be available Jan. 16 at 10AM; check here and here.

The news comes shortly after Life Without Buildings leader Sue Tompkins appeared on the Sleaford Mods single "No Touch." Rough Trade is also planning a curated series of 50 essential albums, which will be reissued and arrive in five batches of ten apiece, starting next month. You can sign up for a subscription here.
